About Cascade
Cascade Bar Services is led by Augustine Vanden Brulle, a Seattle hospitality professional with over a decade of experience behind the bar, on the dining-room floor and in restaurant management.
For more than seven years at Seattle's Café Lago, Augustine worked as a bartender, server, Maître D' and Assistant General Manager. His experience includes producing 200+ craft cocktails in a four-hour service, overseeing dining rooms serving as many as 250 guests in an evening, developing custom cocktails, managing staff and handling the countless details that keep high-volume service running smoothly.
He and all our staff continue to actively work in high-volume bartending and hospitality across the Seattle area and Western Washington, regularly balancing demanding bar and dining-room service and continuing to build our experience behind the bar.
That background means Cascade brings more than drink-making to an event. We bring preparation, organization, speed, classic cocktail knowledge, thoughtful guest service and the ability to keep a busy bar calm and welcoming.
From the first planning conversation through last call, our goal is to make the bar one less thing for the host to manage.
Licensed & insured. All staff are professional bartenders and carry Washington State MAST certification and Safe Food Handler certification.
Washington alcohol rules
Alcohol rules depend on the type of event and venue. These answers summarize current Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board guidance; your venue may have additional requirements.
Cascade Bar Services provides professional bartending and bar service rather than selling alcohol by the drink. For private events operating under a Washington Banquet Permit, the Liquor and Cannabis Board requires liquor to be purchased from a retail store at full retail price and provided to guests without a separate charge for each drink.
For many private events, that model has real advantages. You buy your beer, wine and spirits directly at normal retail prices instead of paying a venue or licensed bar a marked-up price for every beer, glass of wine or cocktail. We help you plan quantities and provide a complete shopping list, so you still get a professionally planned bar without Cascade adding a per-drink alcohol markup.
The alcohol is yours. Whatever remains after the event stays with you, and unopened products may be returnable where the retailer's own return policy allows it. At a wedding or large party, where individually priced cocktails can add up quickly, keeping alcohol purchasing separate from bartending service can make costs easier to understand and control.
Often, depending on the event. Washington describes a Banquet Permit as allowing alcohol service and consumption at a private, invitation-only gathering held in a public place or business, including weddings and company banquets. Many rental facilities and halls require one. The LCB currently lists the cost at $25 per event day. Some private events qualify for an exception, so check the state's requirements and your venue before booking.
A Banquet Permit does not allow alcohol to be sold or separately charged for. Different rules apply when alcohol is sold. For example, qualifying nonprofit organizations may use a Special Occasion License, which allows alcohol sales at a specified event. If your event involves ticketed alcohol sales, fundraising, public attendance or another arrangement beyond a private hosted bar, contact the LCB and your venue to determine the correct license before booking service.
The client is responsible for obtaining any permit or license required for the event and confirming that the venue allows the planned bar service. Washington also notes that local permits may be required for events serving alcohol in public places. We are happy to discuss your plans and point you toward the relevant state resources, but final approval comes from the venue and appropriate authorities.
Anything from beer and wine only to the entire Cascade Classic Cocktail Menu — or any selection in between. Choosing cocktails from the Classic Menu does not add to the base price. Charges apply only when you add services such as a Premium Bar, custom Signature Cocktails, additional service hours, an additional bartender, champagne service or extended travel.
Our Classic Cocktail Menu is designed around ingredients that overlap across a wide range of drinks, keeping your shopping list manageable while still offering plenty of variety. Some cocktails — particularly rum drinks and drinks requiring ingredients like ginger beer — add several event-specific ingredients that may not be used elsewhere on the menu.
We can absolutely make them. Depending on what you'd like to serve, they may fit better under our Signature Cocktails or Premium Bar options.
A second bartender is required for events with more than 75 guests. Because a two-bartender event requires additional staffing, preparation and service capacity, add-on prices are doubled when a second bartender is required.
Cascade Bar Services also requires a minimum $250 gratuity per additional bartender. A tip jar may be available during service; if gratuities collected for an additional bartender do not reach $250, the host is responsible for covering the difference by cash or credit.
We need reasonable access to running potable water, adequate lighting, and a reasonably level surface for the bar and service area. For outdoor events, appropriate shelter from rain or other weather must be provided when conditions require it.
If food is being served at the event, a meal must be provided for each Cascade staff member, along with a 15-minute break to eat.
A 50% non-refundable deposit reserves your event date. The remaining 50% is due 30 days before the event. Final contracts also cover staffing, venue requirements, responsible alcohol service and other event-specific terms.
We’ll provide a detailed shopping list based on the information you give us, but consumption varies from event to event and we cannot guarantee that a particular beer, wine, spirit or mixer will last through the entire event. Cascade will not serve alcohol to anyone under 21 and reserves the right to refuse alcohol service when appropriate.
